Malbec 2008

Careful Selection

Malbec has come of age. People seek this wine, attracted to its great spiciness, black pepper and rich berry fruit; a wine born to pair with rich dark meats or heavy sauces. Our version has proved very popular with our customers, selling out very quickly, and for good reason.

Winemaker Brent Charnley first purchased Malbec back in 2002 to use to build complexity in our Cabernet-Merlot blend, carefully selecting the rows he wanted harvested. We noticed that these particular rows in the Crawford family’s fields yielded a particularly outstanding wine, a wine capable of standing on its own two feet!

We have jealously guarded those rows, feeling that the open struggling vines produced the most lusciously flavored fruit. With each passing year, we have slowly built our production to meet the demand this wine has achieved. Here then is our 2008 version. We barrel age this wine for 12 months using 50% new French oak. It is bottled with minimum filtration to maximize the flavors. Enjoy!
