Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot 2008

80% - 20%

These varieties are blended together after 24 months of small barrel aging. Each vintage is a slightly different blend, crafted to bring out a full bodied dry red wine that will exhibit the depth of Cabernet and the wonderful berry flavors of Washington Merlot. Blending creates a complexity to the wine that the grape varieties alone do not have and allows the wine to be enjoyed earlier due to the lower tannins of the Merlot. The Cabernet grape adds the backbone that allows this wine to be aged for over 10 years. Beginning in 2002, we began to add Malbec to this blend, creating an even more interesting and complex wine. We think you will like this evolution in this great wine.

Think Big Complex Red! This year’s blend is 85% Cabernet, 10% Merlot and 5% Malbec, a wine of depth and complexity with flavors and aromas of blackberry, cherry, tobacco, oak, cedar and smoke. This is a full bodied wine, ideal for chasing away the winter’s dark edges. Coming from 22 months of barrel aging and a few months of bottle aging, it is ready for your enjoyment. Or lay this one down, it will reward you!

Lopez Island Vineyards Cabernet-Merlot—2007 Crawford Vineyards, Yakima Valley

Recommended. While the Salish Sea is home to Brent Charnley’s estate vineyards for his white program, he taps into Crawford Vineyard in Prosser, Wash., and Red Mountain’s End of the Road for this 80/20 blend. It’s a nose full of Swisher Sweet Cigar, black cherry, boysenberry and cedar, followed by cherry pie and huckleberry flavors with youthful tannins and lively acidity that will benefit from some time.”
