Malbec is a fairly new grape to the American wine drinker.  It is however, an old grape of some renown: it is one of the components of Bordeaux blends of the Medoc region.  We have used it for the last several years in our Cabernet-Merlot blend.

Recently, the Argentineans have made wines from this grape, and it thus entered the awareness of us northerners.  As we were preparing our 2005 blends, we noted the exceptional character of this wine, so we decided to bottle some on its own.

WATCH FOR NEW RELEASE OF THIS WINE IN NOVEMBER OF 2008!

Malbec grapes fermenting
(right)-  To extract the color, red grapes must be fermented with the skins.  Pictured here is a tank in the middle of "Punch Down"; thrice daily we push the skins back down into the juice to maximize color, flavor and tannin.  Yummm, full strength red wine!
