Education

Wine growing is an ancient art, passed down through families and apprenticeships. Success comes from years of hands-on experience and study. Our own skills came through this same path of learning. We offer several ways to learn:

On-farm internships in grape growing and winemaking. Interested people should send a letter of introduction, résumé, and references to the winery.

Targeted Seminars: When we have interest, we hold classes on various aspects of growing grapes, making wine, and wine sensory analysis. These one day classes include lecture and hands on work. When we have enough students, we will hold a class. Let us know your interest in any of the following topics:

  • Establishing a Vineyard
  • Organic Viticulture Overview
  • Winter Pruning a Vineyard
  • Summer Pruning and Training
  • Simple Chemical Analysis for the Small Winery
  • Sensory Evaluation of Wine

Each full-day seminar costs $100 and includes lunch.
